Through SSP partners and project collaborators, a variety of in situ field work and research are conducted to ensure the survival of wild and introduced populations of crested toads.
Field programs include:
- Pond construction for reintroduction
- Breeding pond construction (to augment natural breeding sites and reintroduction sites)
- Natural history research
- Mark and recapture studies at all known PRCT toad sites
- Invasive species monitoring and removal
- Biotic and abiotic influences on habitats
- Acoustical monitoring in search of new populations
- Amphibian disease surveillance
